Cavity help?

For about six months back in 2002-2003, I didn't have access to fluoride toothpaste or any modern dental supplies... unfortunately, several small cavities formed in that time. Since then, unable to afford a dentist, the cavities have just grown.





I currently have seven cavities that I'm able to feel with my tongue, two of which are likely to become a major problem down the line, and undoubtably several more in hiding.





Aside from regular oral hygiene, does anyone have any advice? I know how impotant a healthy mouth is, but I just don't know what to do.

You have to go to the dentist as soon as possible. Find a dentist who will let you make payments. It will become more expensive if you wait because you will have to have more extensive work the longer you let it go. Not to mention that you could end up having a toothache, which is a major nightmare. Call around to different dentists and find one who has a payment plan. My dentist allows me to make payments and charges 2% interest on my balance.
Reply:Please get to a dentist ASAP, and get these problems resolved. You can get low-cost or even free care through local Dental Schools. Oral health affects a lot of other things in the body, and recent studies link poor oral health with increased bloodstream infections that can lead to heart problems.





Do NOT procrastinate, there really is help out there, contact your local county health services and ask for a referral for dental care.

Reply:For now go to Walgreens or Rite Aid or your local drugstore/pharmacy to get some temporary filling until you can get into a dentist. It costs around $5 or $6 per tube. Most dentists will allow you to make payments to pay for the cavity if you cannot pay in full at once. But please get in to get it filled and start using fluoride toothpaste again.
