Where can i dispose of dirty needles? i work for a dental supply company and i was asked to find out.?
Why are you in charge of that? The office should know that. Contact the local health department and ask them where a dental supply company can dispose of used needles. Most likely the company must pay for a service. Or contact the board of dentistry in your state and ask them.
Reply:Next time you order supplies, get a "Sharps Box" aka Red Box
Reply:My ex-boyfriend was a tattoo artist and he used to put the dirty needles into this special plastic container--i think it was orange, that has the hazardous sign on it. Then you probably give it to a specific collector. Sorry I'm being vague!
Reply:Most places I've seen with medical waste use "hazardous waste" containers to eliminate blood, needles, etc. They are taken away by specialists . Maybe call a hospital and ask them the name of the professional they use.
Reply:I'd call a local hospital and ask for the maintenance department. I'm sure they'd be willing to tell you where they dispose of their medical waste.
Reply:You need a sharps container and they are picked up by companies specializing in biohardous waste disposal.

BTW.. If the dental supply company is asking YOU, they are clueless and I would go work somewhere else.
Reply:You don't do anything with the needles inside. they are meant to stay there and the entire container is diposed of. The dental office you work at should have informed you of where to dispose of the containers.

We used to put them in a red bag once the container was full, then you lock it. and dispose of it.
Reply:needles should be placed in a "sharps" box for disposal. The disposal is done by a medical waste collection company. What company will depend on just whre you are located.

I believe the sharps box is either disposable itself , or there is an inner container that is tossed.
Reply:You can take the full (only up to the maximum fill line) sharps container to your local hospital, or call them and ask which disposal company they use for destroying their used sharps.
