Are prisoners in America given toothbrushes and shampoo?

Someone told me that they are not given these supplies but it seems like the country would be spending millions of dollars on dental work for these guys if they weren't given toothbrushes.

Are prisoners in America given toothbrushes and shampoo?
Yes they are given these items, A lot of times depending on what prison they are in the tooth brush may be given and than have to be turned back in as in psychiatric lock ups because tooth brushes can be sharpened into weapons, However most prisons (including ours) use "bob Barker" tooth brushes and they are pretty flexible. Soap and Shampoo is def given because piss poor hygiene would equal very sick prisoners and that would cause more tax money being spent etc. Their is prison commissaries etc where people can buy better items however basic issue items are given, a basic pair of prison duds flip flops toiletries etc. including a plastic mug for water and chow time and a flexible plastic spoon. Hope this helps......Shadow stalker
Reply:Our prisioners are treated like kings.
Reply:yes little ones that are not that good, there made by bob barker.
Reply:Prisoners are given toothbrushes and shampoos because they live like in a hotel taken from taxes being paid by good citizens. It is the irony of life that those who should be punished are living better than some outside the prisons.
Reply:The prisoners are allowed to buy these things with money they earn in their prison job or money that is put in an account before they go in or put in by a family member
Reply:Yes they are given toothbrushes and shampoo!! They can either get it off of commisary, or if they have no money, then they get indigent items that are supplied from the facility they are staying at?
Reply:Yes they do get those neccesities. They are prisoners but are still human. I work in the medical dept. at a prison, and no they are not treated like KINGS ( as on answer states) if anything they don't have enough medical care.
Reply:No they are not, at least not with the growing numbers of private prisons. In such facilities there is a commissary similar to that of military installations where prisoners have to purchase their own clothing (usually denim jeans and blue button down shirts), grooming essentials, tobacco products and junk foods. Money is sent directly from the prisoners' families to the prison commissary where it is added to their "books" or account. For those who do not have money or families to send these items, churches usually donate enough money to their accounts to provide the bare necessities.
Reply:they have to buy it
Reply:Yes they are given tooth brushes, toothpaste, soap and the such. they are even given choice of "non pork" toothpaste ( yes alot of it has pork byproducts)

they get toliet paper.
Reply:Only if they have teeth, and hair.
Reply:Yes you do get toothbrush and shampoo. I can't believe that people thing people in jail/'prison shouldn't get simple stuff like that. Where I was we got a mini toothbrush and shampoo and other bits and pieces. As others have said if you want better stuff you have to buy it from your own money. Don't see why anybody can object to that - in jail remember alot of people haven't even been convicted and are therefore innocent.

Can a 32 year old male with diabetes qualify for medicaid?

My boyfriend is 32 has diabetes and his medical sucks so he is paying for a majority of his supplies, he pays rent and bills and everything else other people do and cant seem to get decent dental insurance so i thought he might be able to qualify for medicaid as a secondary insurance/ dental. Can someone help me with this? Does anyone know weather or not he can qualify?

Can a 32 year old male with diabetes qualify for medicaid?
As far as I know. Medicaid is solely based on income. If I were you I would google medicaid for your state and see what the income requirements are for a household of 1 since unfortunately they will not consider you a 2 member household....or will they...hmm. If you live together and share the bills I mean. But including your income would probably decrease his chances of qualifying. it doesn't hurt to apply anyhow! Just fill out the paperwork and make an appointment, they'll let you know then if it's a go. HTH! Good luck!
Reply:basic qualifications is you have to be eldery, diabled or suffereing from poverty.

My boyfriend in insulin dependent diabetic. We cant get him ANY insurance. he is full time student, and too old to be on his parents plan... and doesnt qualifiy for any government aid. His medical needs cost over $500 a month! Its insane that we can catch a break at all, we have to wait until he can work a full time job that gives benefits, which where we live is already hard to find. The system sucks.
Reply:If he makes too much money, he will not qualify for medicaid. Although it is not fair, those are the rules. He obviously deserves to have decent medical coverage. It is not his fault his employer does not offer good medical insurance. He is the reason the US needs universal medical coverage. Vote for Hillary. This will help in the long term.

Any EXPATS in BKK willing to show me around????

GREETINGS FROM TORONTO,

I'm travelling to BKK next month, arriving the morning of NOVEMBER 9TH. I'm just wondering if there might be any EXPATS who would be willing to take me "under their wing" and show me around the city.

I'm coming for some dental work and also to distribute about 20 boxes of toys and school supplies that have been donated to me by Canadian companies. I'm hoping the Canadian Embassy will help me by receiving the shipment and directing me to a worthy school or orphanage.

As far as me and my interests, I'm 43, single, somewhat athletic (not a "jock") and in reasonably good shape. I love ANYTHING to do with the water (sailing, SCUBA, snorkelling, fishing, etc.) and basically just need someone to show me where to go and what to AVOID.

As far as some form of compensation goes, I'd be happy to pick up anything you need from over here and bring it with me or perhaps entertain you if you come to TORONTO.

Hope to hear from you !!!

Any EXPATS in BKK willing to show me around????
You will probably have better luck in finding someone to show you around at http://www.couchsurfing.org/ . This website connects travelers with people all around the world who are willing to put you up in their place for a couple nights and/or meet you in town to show you around and give you the local's perspective . A quick search just now showed about 300 couchsurfing hosts in Bangkok. From the main page just click on CouchSearch and enter your search criteria. Good luck and happy travels!
Reply:just go in nana plaza...you will meet plenty of foreigners there....

Reply:Sorry, no can do. I'll be busy getting married on the 9th, but good luck and enjoy your time here :o)

Can I use my medical savings account to pay for...?

dentist charges not covered by my dental plan, IF I suffered disfigurement at work from biting an employer-supplied permanent marker WHILE AT WORK?

Or should I file a workman's comp claim?

Can I use my medical savings account to pay for...?
You will have to use your medical savings account to pay for the uncovered dental expenses. Workman's compensation will not cover gross negligence on the employees part.
